Sex and the City is finally back.
The HBO Max revival follows Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York, now women in their 50s, still living in New York City. Longtime fans will see how the trio have evolved since they last hit our screens in 2010, with new cast additions that reflect the diversity of New York City and a plot that hits on real-world events (including the pandemic).
"I think that Cynthia, Kristin, and I are all excited about the time that has passed," star Sarah Jessica Parker told Vanity Fair. "You know, who are they in this world now? Have they adapted? What part have they played? Where have they fallen short as women, as friends, and how are they finding their way?"
Here's what to expect and how to follow along as the series unfolds.
Grief will be a large part of the series.
The two-part premiere gave us answers for how our faves are faring in 2021: Carrie's struggling to open up on her podcast, Miranda's navigating racial politics in graduate school, and Charlotte's parenting two very different daughters. That was before the twist that turned Carrie's world upside down: Big dies from a heart attack post-Peloton ride, shaking all the characters to their cores. And we're expecting grief to continue to be a large part of the miniseries.
The preview for Episode 3 shows Carrie uncovering what sounds like a huge secret related to her marriage. Whatever the new drama is, she, Miranda, and Charlotte are on the case, with Carrie saying at one point, "The sixth stage of grief is stalking."
