The Florida Association of Restoration Specialists (FLARS) will hold a legislative update event on September 25 at the Fort Lauderdale Westin, 400 Corporate Drive.
FLARS has been battling the insurance industry for the past two years over its attempt to pass legal action that would greatly hamper how Florida restoration contractors get paid. The September 25 meeting is open to anyone in the mitigation or restoration industry in the state of Florida.
“If the Insurance industry gets away with what they are trying to do, our industry will be destroyed,” says Jeff Grant, FLARS President. “There will be more and more dictating of what our fees should be, their holding out of money (and) they will put things into law that will not allow us to get paid. But more importantly, the consumers.
“Some things that have already been considered are managed repairs and doing all mitigation and repairs themselves, making no need for our industry in Florida.”
The meeting will discuss how the industry can better itself and combat legislation that could potentially be passed into law. Dinner will be provided and there will be an open bar.
