Development of New S900 Standard

The IICRC is announcing the development of a new standard, the BSR/IICRC S900 Standard for Professional Remediation of Illicit Drugs, Cannabis and Nicotine Residue. 

 The BSR/IICRC S900 will encompass necessary processes for employers and workers when remediating materials and contents within structures affected by illicit drugs, cannabis and nicotine residues. This standard will cover the required personal protective equipment, engineering controls, proper work practices and processes necessary for remediation, as well as specific methods based upon type of contamination (e.g. powder, chemical and combustion residues.) 

 Those interested in submitting an application to serve on the S900 consensus body should visit the S900 website (at https://www.iicrc.org/SBSRIICRCS900) for more information and to fill out the application form. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 30.

Certifications and Master Designations

Interested in furthering your career? The IICRC offers dozens of certifications, including a  Trauma and Crime Scene Technician (TCST) course, as well as advanced designations. As technicians accumulate various certifications, they become eligible for advanced designations such as an IICRC Journeyman or IICRC Master – the industry’s highest technical designation.
