2019 saw its share of natural disasters. Here are some images shared by R&R readers.
In late July, R&R Editor-in-Chief Michelle Blevins had the privilege of touring JC Restoration's state-of-the-art facility just outside Chicago. JC Restoration has grown exponentially over the years with a heavy emphasis on culture, a team environment, and impeccable work quality. As you'll see from this gallery, JC Restoration has very specific processes in place to make sure the company runs efficiently and effectively for their clients.
Restoration is hard – and let’s face it, sometimes we laugh at things that might make other people cry or scream. You have to keep the work light, sometimes, right?! Enjoy these cartoons created especially for the restoration industry.
Are you proud of your team’s restoration and remediation skills? Now R&R has a place to show off you team’s handiwork! Submit your project photos here to showcase them in R&R’s Jobsite Photo Submissions gallery.

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas on the evening of Friday, Aug. 25. In three days, Harvey dumped several feet of water on Texas – including 16 inches in Houston on Aug. 27 alone, making it the city’s wettest day in history. Harvey also spawned tornadoes and a lot of wind damage. Experts believe it will take years to restore the damage Harvey has done, but restoration contractors didn’t wait to respond. While the rain still came down and water was high, companies hopped in their boats and trucks to do water rescues. Once the rain stopped and water receded, it was all hands on deck to start drying out the thousands of properties underwater. It’s a process that won’t be over anytime soon.
This year’s conference was Oct. 10-13 in St. Louis, Missouri, and included two days of classroom training, and a third day that was all hands-on instruction. Day one started with a rather in depth lesson on body decomposition. Day two was more into the nitty gritty of forensic restoration. And day three was fully hands-on. These pictures tell the story!
The fall show is over – and life at The Mirage in Las Vegas undoubtedly more dull now that The Experience Trade Show & Convention has cleared out! Check out some images from this year’s show!
R&R Editor Michelle Blevins spent the day traveling to various job sites with SunGlo Operations Manager Bob Graham earlier this summer. SunGlo, a large restoration company serving the Metro Detroit area, handles the full gamut of restoration work. In one day, site visits included a multi-story income-based housing complex fire damage restoration job, a house fire that turned out to be the home of a hoarder, a massive condo fire, and two water loss jobs. Take a look at these projects in-the-works!
A look in photos at the 2014 Experience Conference and Exhibition, which was held from April 24-26 at the Embassy Suites Convention Center and Spa in Frisco, Texas.
